i think i, and many others, misunderstood what this was supposed to be. consider it like a side story that we never got to see in the original series. it leaves it open for them to either continue telling the original story in a different way, or use it as a jumping off point for an alternate reality series.

edit: who know? I have a 20 percent chance theory that Weiss would see Jaune in a different light after all this. As he might be the one who played the key role of getting the nightmare out of her. And by different light, I meant not belittling him again like she used too, but as a friend.

Is this supposed to be a continuation of the original? SO a watcher is supposed to have already the original before watching this? Because it feels like they really are rushing a heck lot through all this.

What is the point of allowing Penny, Sun help out when you barely introduced them as characters? Heck they got less than a episode I think and did not even receive a proper introduction. It felt like their were just thrown into the role of "helping RWBY" because they do not have any other character or option for it.

The same goes with team JNPR. I mean, why they helping each other when we have not seen anything remotely as them getting close as friends or comrades? And then team JNPR being too casual about the fact that Jaune might end up denying in the dream. It kind of shows they do not care about what happens to Jaune at all cause they are just feeling too nonchalant.

Can someone tell me their opinion? I honestly want to know what other people are thinking about the adaption cause imo this is not going good at all.

i'd say we've seen all we're gonna get of the original story. this is better thought of as more of a side story, or events that we didnt see in the original.

I would assume that yes, you should be familiar with the original. The idea is, I believe, was to use the anime to fill in while the original is still under development to give Rooster Teeth more time to finish the next volume. One of the biggest criticisms of later volumes (vol 4 and on) was that they keep rushing to get it out yearly and not taking their time. I think this anime was supposed to give RWBY fans content and give Rooster Teeth more time to finish future volumes.

So is a volume 9 in production?

Was suppose to be release 4th quarter of 2022 but was pushed back to 1st quarter 2023. You can watch the vol 9 teaser on youtube.

And with the added bonus time, we can only pray to the gods of anime productions that they do Volume 9 right, right?

We're four episodes too early for that, and Urobuchi isn't that polite. Something's going to crash and burn in the next episode or two, because when something feels too easy in an Urobuchi story, it typically means that someone's about to either get shot or decapitated.
